Getting to the Monastery

Buddha Bodhivana Monastery is located at the end of the Warburton Highway, approximately 8kms beyond the township of Warburton.  Driving from the Melbourne CBD takes about 1 and-a-half hours following the Eastern Freeway and Marroondah Highway.

Via public transport, take any train on the Lilydale Line to Lilydale Station and connect with the 683 Bus to East Warburton. Check Journey Planner for details. (As of 17th June 2018 the 683 to East Warburton now departs Lilydale Station at 7:57am Mon-Fri and at 8:25am on Saturdays. There is no service on Sunday mornings. Click here for the link to the new bus timetable.)

As the bus service to East Warbuton is limited you may choose to take the 683 Bus to Warburton where it is possible to book a taxi for the final 8kms of your journey to Bodhivana.

(Please Note: there are four services of the 683 Bus to East Warburton per weekday, two on Saturday, and one on Sunday. The 683 Bus to the township of Warburton runs frequently during the week and infrequently on weekends.)

Alternatively one can take the train to Lilydale Station and cycle the remaining 48ks to the monastery along the Lilydale-Warburton Rail Trail and Woods Point Rd.
